Humour makes your brand feel more like a friend.
In the fast-paced world of social media, reacting promptly can produce impressive results and enhance engagement.
Humour makes your brand feel more like a friend, easy to connect with. And in today’s world, where everyone’s attention is pulled in a million directions, humour helps you stand out!
So take this as a reminder: it’s okay to be random and funny because it’s relatable.
You’re telling me Billie Eilish’s DIDN’T add you to her close friends list?
The close friends marketing stunt:
Fans were freaking out when they saw they were added to Billie Eilish’s close friends story on Instagram.
This marketing move worked really well for two reasons;
- FOMO – Fear of Missing Out. If you didn’t follow her before, you would have gone straight to her account to try and get added to her close friends list.
- Engagement – Fans were sharing this across all their social platforms so this would have contributed to a huge increase in exposure for her.
The end result of her adding her 111 millions followers to her close friends list was then gaining over 9 Million followers over night 😱 Great timing for her upcoming album being released May 17th.
Google is testing ‘Short Form Video’ in the search bar:
The content appears in a two-column layout, and gives you results from IG Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok.
TikTok’s New Photo App is live;
TikTok tweeted about their launch of the platform saying: “We’re in the early stages of experimenting with a dedicated space for photo and text content with TikTok Notes. Starting today, TikTok Notes is available for download and limited testing in Australia and Canada.”
Not interested in downloading it? Don’t worry, I’ve done it for you.
Here’s how it works:
You can link your TikTok account to TikTok Notes. Any existing photos on your TikTok account will show up on the new platform. If you don’t have a TikTok account, you can still sign up for it.
There is a ‘For you’ feed and a ‘Following’ feed and you can search for content by keywords and topics.
It is giving “Pinterest” as opposed to Instagram.
When you go to upload, if gives you the option to add up to 35 photos, a ‘catchy title’ and up to 4000 characters!
That seems like A LOT to add to a post. We know we have a short attention span so is it necessary to allow for all that additional information to digest?
We will soon find out.
Stay tuned on this. I will give another update in May’s Trending with Taylor💃🏻.
April Fools
Is April Fool’s Day too crowded these days, or is it still a smart way to stand out? Some brands give it a shot, some go all in, and others skip the pranks altogether.
Duolingo went all out for their April Fools prank this year.
Results; The campaign videos garnered over 27 million views and 3.5 million likes on TikTok, along with more than 17 million views and 1.3 million likes on Instagram. On YouTube, they reached over 1.6 million views and nearly 5,000 comments! Huge results for just an April Fools campaign
